KEY ISSUES

Play in the Park

I am passionate about health equity, health insurance accessibility, birth control, and abortion access. I will strive to improve health for all in SLP from a city planning, infrastructure, and programming perspective.

Specifically, I want to improve walkability in Ward 1, especially along the Light Rail commuter line where there is a lot of new construction. St. Louis Park is committed to providing a variety of options for people to make their way around the city comfortably, safely and reliably.

As a frequent biker in SLP, I am often hit by overhanging branches. Let's improve our roads and trails and make SLP more biker and pedestrian friendly.

Work in the Park

We deserve the chance to buy the goods and services we need to live happy and productive lives. We need to pay our student loans and still make our rent month to month.

Ward 1 includes my former employer, Yum! I would like to raise the minimum wage in SLP, in conjunction with other cities in the West Metro, to support workers so that they can afford to live within biking distance to work.

As I repay my student loans, I am conscious of the high cost of higher education in the US. Many residents of Ward 1 are thinking about paying for school for themselves or their children, and we need a higher minimum wage in order to increase access to higher education in SLP.

Live in the Park

I support increasing access to affordable housing in SLP. I look for solutions that promote affordability and stability while encouraging development and maintaining properties.

We need more tenant protections, including a "Just Cause" provision in SLP. This would require a landlord to have a specific, legitimate reason to terminate a lease or evict a tenant. I also support legislation that explicitly prohibits discrimination against source of income for renters receiving rental assistance.

My wish list for SLP also includes a farmer's market with fresh produce, as well as more pickle ball courts.

I am interested in making SLP's Neighborhood Association program accessible to more neighborhoods to increase social capital across SLP. You can read more of my thoughts on this topic here.

Vote in the Park

SLP is a leader in Ranked Choice Voting, in part because we are lucky to have our own City Charter. Learn more about the Charter Commission here.

We have strong voter turnout in SLP, and a wonderful SLP Elections Department. Let's continue to invest in the Elections team to keep our democracy strong.

Despite strong voter participation in SLP, according to my analyses, we see voter turnout trends here that mirror those in Minnesota. Minnesota Compass, a project of Wilder Research, found that renters and unmarried Minnesotans voted at lower rates in 2022. Higher-income and more highly educated Minnesotans voted at higher rates.  â€‹â€‹

How can we engage more renters and unmarried people, as well as low-income and less-educated residents in elections going forward?
